About this event
Museum MACAN presents Pulse for Pulse (Denyut demi Denyut), a special presentation by Yogyakarta artist Iwan Effendi, from 14 November 2026 to 4 April 2027. Effendi co-founded Papermoon Puppet Theatre with Ria Tri Sulistyani in 2006, and the works on show grow out of both his studio practice and his puppet-theatre stagecraft.
The exhibition starts from the relationship between puppeteer, puppet and audience, which Effendi calls a "triangle of trust", and widens into questions about how people relate to objects, infrastructure, the environment and other forms of life. His past solo shows include articulate at Mizuma Art Gallery, Tokyo.
The same day, the museum's Children's Art Space opens Mawas Wawas by sound artist Mira Rizki, listed separately.
Visiting: Tuesday to Sunday, 10am–6pm (last entry 5.30pm), closed Mondays. Tickets are sold through museummacan.org; prices had not been published at the time of listing. The museum's website currently carries a "temporarily closed" notice, so check before you go.
Getting there: Museum MACAN is on Level M of AKR Tower, Jl. Panjang, Kebon Jeruk. TransJakarta corridor 8 stops at Kebon Jeruk, and routes T11 and S11 stop at Gerbang Tol Kebon Jeruk 1.
