Purwacarita Borobudur: Immersive Exhibition

Galeri Indonesia Kaya on the top floor of Grand Indonesia is running Purwacarita Borobudur: Jelajah Sejarah dalam Ruang dan Rasa, an immersive exhibition on the history of Borobudur, from 1 September to 31 December 2026. It was created with Bening Digital and Curaweda.

The show is laid out in eight zones: an immersive theatre of the temple's Karmawibhangga and Avadana reliefs, interactive monologues by historical and legendary figures, a phone game following the ancient pilgrim route from Mendut and Pawon temples, a motion-sensor nature wall, a comic, and a short film, Asal Mula Borobudur, in the gallery auditorium. The content was reviewed by historians at Universitas Gadjah Mada.

Entry is free and open to all ages; just walk in. Opening hours had not been clearly published at the time of listing, so check with the gallery before a special trip.
