About this event
Mawas Wawas is the new commission for Museum MACAN's Children's Art Space (Ruang Seni Anak), open from 14 November 2026 to 4 April 2027. Bandung-born multidisciplinary artist Mira Rizki, whose work centres on sound, vibration and listening, has created an installation that invites visitors to feel, listen to and notice the life around them.
Visitors experience sound and vibration in a sand pool, then make patterns on "trace plates" that are added to a growing installation of lanterns (Lampion Singgah), so the space changes over the course of the exhibition. The aim is to show children that people are part of a wider web of living things rather than its centre.
It opens alongside Iwan Effendi's Pulse for Pulse in the main galleries.
Visiting: Tuesday to Sunday, 10am–6pm (last entry 5.30pm), closed Mondays. Tickets are sold through museummacan.org; prices had not been published at the time of listing. The museum's website currently carries a "temporarily closed" notice, so check before you go.
Getting there: Museum MACAN is on Level M of AKR Tower, Jl. Panjang, Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta. TransJakarta corridor 8 stops at Kebon Jeruk.
