Jakarta's festival calendar is anchored by a handful of genuinely large events. Pestapora fills JIExpo Kemayoran across three days each September with hundreds of Indonesian acts, and Djakarta Warehouse Project closes the year in December as one of Asia's biggest electronic music festivals. Java Jazz in May and Hammersonic for the metal crowd round out the majors. Beyond music, this section covers film festivals, cultural celebrations, food festivals and the city-wide programmes built around Jakarta's June anniversary and Independence Day in August. Multi-day festivals often sell single-day and full-weekend passes at very different prices, and early-bird tiers tend to be substantially cheaper than gate prices.
