The Jakarta Running Festival is the city's largest running event and a World Athletics Label race, drawing more than 20,000 runners across four days in October. Founded in 2023 by local marathoners, it has grown quickly into Indonesia's flagship road race.
Five categories cover every level: a Junior Dash for children aged 4 to 11, a 5K for beginners and families, a 10K, a half marathon and the full 42K. Uniquely among large races, JRF runs across two race days, which lets it accommodate far more entrants — and allows the ambitious to attempt back-to-back days.
The course starts and finishes at the Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex in Senayan and winds past Jakarta's historic landmarks and central boulevards, offering a rare chance to see the city on foot with the roads closed.
The marathon carries a strict five-hour cut-off, shorter than comparable races, specifically because of Jakarta's heat and humidity. Alongside the races, the JRF Expo runs at Istora Senayan with brand stalls, talks, community meet-ups and live music, free to enter with a JRF Pass.
Note on dates: the organiser lists the festival as 22–25 October, with the expo running 23–26 October and the main race days falling on the weekend of 24–25 October. Confirm your specific category's race day when you register.
Tickets are sold by the organiser. Prices and availability change without notice.
