Anime Festival Asia is the largest Japanese pop-culture convention in Southeast Asia, and the Indonesian edition fills Halls 1 and 2 at ICE BSD City across a weekend in August. It is the region's main gathering point for anime, manga, gaming, music and cosplay.
The festival splits into several zones. The Exhibition Hall carries merchandise, licensed goods and exhibitor booths; AFA Next Stage runs licensed content showcases, anime screenings, dialogues and international guests; and there are dedicated areas for the Cosplay Hub, Creators Hub, AFA Cardverse card battles, the LAM Art Exhibition and a Food Street.
Music Fest runs both nights with Japanese artists performing live. Saturday 15 August features Sally Amaki as opening act, alongside ASCA, BACK-ON, Isekaijoucho, kz (livetune) and SPYAIR. Sunday 16 August is headlined by TOGENASHI TOGEARI with "Rinne no Kotowari" in Jakarta.
Tickets: exhibition and Next Stage access is included with every Festival ticket. Concert tickets are sold separately in CAT 1, 2 and 3 reserved seating and also include exhibition access — CAT 1 has the best viewing position and comes with ballot entries for signed items.
Getting there: ICE BSD is in Tangerang. The easiest public route is the Rangkasbitung Line from Tanah Abang to Cisauk Station, then five minutes on the free BSD Link shuttle, which drops directly at the venue entrances.
Tickets are sold by the organiser. Prices and availability change without notice.
