Greater Jakarta

Some of the largest events serving Jakarta take place just outside the city's five municipalities, in the surrounding Jabodetabek conurbation. The Nusantara International Convention Exhibition at Pantai Indah Kapuk 2 and ICE BSD in Tangerang now host several of the biggest conventions and festivals on the calendar, while Bogor and Bekasi hold major sporting and community events. This section covers events in Tangerang, Bekasi, Depok, Bogor and the wider Greater Jakarta area that are realistically reachable from the city. ICE BSD's halls take book sales, pop-culture conventions, franchise and consumer expos, themed runs, Jakarta Coffee Week, K-pop concerts and LaLaLa Festival; PIK 2 hosts large parties and road races; and further out there are arena concerts at Sentul, campus music festivals in Depok, wedding exhibitions in Bekasi and Japanese culture festivals in Bogor. Travel time is the thing to plan for. PIK 2 and BSD are both well over an hour from central Jakarta in traffic, and event days make that worse. Check whether the organiser is running shuttle buses — most of the large conventions do. For BSD, the KRL Rangkasbitung line to Cisauk plus the free BSD Link shuttle avoids the toll-road queues.
