About this event
The 9th Madani International Film Festival, themed "Rimpang", runs from Wednesday 7 to Sunday 11 October 2026 across the Taman Ismail Marzuki complex in Cikini: Teater Besar, Teater Kecil, Kineforum Studio Sjuman Djaya, Aula PDS H.B. Jassin and the open-air Plaza Teater Jakarta. It is organised by Yayasan Madani Kultur Publika.
The festival focuses on cinema from Muslim societies, with spotlights on Palestine and Sudan. Antara reports 108 films from 29 countries and 15 discussion sessions. Highlights include an opening ceremony on 7 October at 16:00, a misbar outdoor screening on 8 October, masterclasses by Kenta Kishi (8 October) and Dag S. Yngvesson (10 October), an Efek Rumah Kaca "Rimpang" concert on the Plaza on 10 October at 19:30, and the closing film Khartoum on 11 October.
Entry: most sessions use a seat-reservation form on the festival website and some are open access; the organiser does not publish ticket prices. Some sessions are already full or closed – Basma (9 October), Budi Pekerti (9 October) and the Madani Awards night (11 October) – so check the schedule page before you go.
Taman Ismail Marzuki is on Jl. Cikini Raya, a short ride from Cikini KRL station and served by TransJakarta.
