Running is Jakarta's biggest participation sport. Most weekends bring at least one road race or themed fun run, and the big annual events – the BTN Jakarta International Marathon in June and the Jakarta Running Festival in October – fill the streets around Senayan and Sudirman. This section covers races, fun runs, tournaments, spectator fixtures and motorsport across Greater Jakarta. Coming up are ICMI One Run and WAQF Run at TMII in East Jakarta, Indomaret Run at PIK 2 and the Astra Half Marathon at BSD in November, Pertamina Eco RunFest at GBK in December, character runs such as Disney Run and Pokémon RUN 30, and motorsport including the FIA Rallycross World Cup at Ancol and the national drift championship final at Sentul. Entries for popular races often sell out weeks ahead, and each listing gives the registration status where the organiser publishes it. Most Jakarta races start before dawn to beat the heat, so check the flag-off times and plan your transport – the MRT and KRL may not be running in time for the earliest starts.
