About this event
Petruk Mantu is a comic wayang orang (Javanese dance-drama) staged at Galeri Indonesia Kaya on Saturday 10 October 2026 to mark the gallery's 13th anniversary. It revives the Wayang Jurnalis programme, in which journalists take to the stage, for the first time since 2020.
The story follows Petruk as he tries to win Princess Nilowati as a bride for his son, unaware that a fierce nobleman is also courting her. Wayang Orang Bharata, founded in 1972, performs alongside the journalists, with 12-year-old dalang Kitama Arturo.
Entry is free, but you need to reserve a seat online through Indonesia Kaya's event booking page. There are two shows, at 15:00 and 19:00, each about an hour long. The gallery rates it suitable for families with parental guidance.
Galeri Indonesia Kaya is on level 8 of the West Mall at Grand Indonesia, a short walk from Bundaran HI MRT station.
